About this app

Mushrooms is a learning tool for beginners who want to learn about mushrooms slowly, with understanding and respect for nature.

The application does not identify mushrooms. You do not take a photo of a mushroom and get the answer "edible". Instead, it guides you through the steps of observing a mushroom - where it grows, what is under the cap, does it have a ring and a tuber - and shows you which mushrooms are possible and how to distinguish them from dangerous counterparts.

Do not eat any mushroom based on the application alone. Show it to a mushroom expert.

WHO IS IT FOR? Anyone who is new to mushrooms and takes the time to learn. If you are looking for an application that identifies mushrooms from a photo, this is not for you.

WHAT IT CONTAINS • What do I see? - a quiz with simple questions and drawings. It guides you through all the identification steps, even when only a few possible mushrooms remain. Deadly poisonous mushrooms are never silently eliminated: until a clear sign eliminates them, they are always marked in red. • Atlas of 64 common species – search by name and characteristics, photos, signs that you check in the field, growing site and months, and dangerous duplicates with differences. Dangerous duplicates that the application does not yet know are also listed. • Picking – rules according to the Mushroom Code of the Mycological Association of Slovenia and regulations (e.g. maximum 2 kg of mushrooms per day, protected species) and number 112 in case of suspected poisoning.

SAFETY FIRST • The result is always only a possible match, not a determination. • For every edible mushroom, there are dangerous duplicates and the difference between them. • Where sources differ, the stricter edibility label applies.

SOURCES AND IMAGES Each piece of information has a stated source (Gobarsko društvo Lisička Maribor – gobe.si, NIJZ, Wikipedia, regulations). Photos are from Wikimedia Commons under free licenses, with the author indicated. No images generated by artificial intelligence. The application has not been reviewed and is not endorsed by the listed organizations.

PRIVACY No account and no ads, works even without the Internet. Anonymous usage data is only sent if you allow it; you can change your decision at any time in Settings.

LIMITATIONS OF THE FIRST VERSION • It recognizes 64 common species, and several thousand of them grow in Slovenia. If a mushroom is not in the application, it will also tell you. More species are coming in the next version. • The content and collection rules apply to Slovenia. • It is only available for Android.

WHY THIS APPLICATION The application is a personal project created for all of us who are new to mushrooms and want to learn about them slowly and safely.
