Cell phones, smartwatches, and earbuds are becoming a major distraction in schools. Research shows unrestricted device use during class can negatively affect learning, social interaction, and student well-being. Teachers and administrators often feel frustrated with the constant challenge of keeping students focused.
The Off the Devices (OTD) app helps schools encourage responsible use of smart devices during the school day.
With OTD:
Students install the app on their personal device.
When they arrive at school, reminders are sent through geofencing, school Wi-Fi, or direct school notifications to switch their devices into School Mode (such as airplane mode or powered down).
Schools can send reminders throughout the day to reinforce responsible device use.
As students leave school, the app stops sending reminders so they can return their devices to normal use.
The system is designed to support existing school policies by encouraging students to follow device rules and remain focused on learning.
Students sign up with their name, school email address, and school details to connect with their school’s device policy program.
