About this game

Deep Lantern is a night diving simulator. You go down a reef wall on a single cylinder with
one lamp, and you try to come back up with a record of what lives there. Nothing is hunted.
The only thing you fire is a tag.

THE AIR IS REAL AIR
Pressure rises by one atmosphere every ten metres, so a breath at thirty metres costs four
times what the same breath costs at the surface. The reserve mark on the air bar is where you
turn around, not where you start worrying. Kicking hard to fix your depth burns gas you will
want later.

TRIM, DO NOT KICK
Hold ASCEND or DESCEND to change your buoyancy, then let go and let it settle — the suit
compresses as you go deeper and your trim shifts with it. Fighting your depth with your fins
costs air and startles everything within nine metres of you.

COME UP SLOWLY
Anything faster than a metre per second fills the bends meter. Deep dives need the safety
stop between four and six metres before you break the surface. Skip it and the dive is logged
as a hot ascent and the clean bonus is gone. This is one of three ways a dive ends badly, and
all three are your own doing.

THE LAMP IS THE GAME
Everything outside the cone stays a rumour. The beam has three settings and the choice
matters: wide finds things, narrow reaches further, and dim is the only way to get near the
shy species. The lamp has its own battery, and it does not last the whole dive at full power.

ANIMALS THAT REACT TO YOU
Every creature runs its own behaviour: drifting, feeding, turning curious, startling, fleeing.
Alarm is driven by how much light you are putting on it and how much noise your fins are
making, and each species has its own shyness. Push one too hard and it leaves — and it
leaves for good.

TAGGING IS PATIENCE, NOT AIM
Hold a lit creature inside the reticle until the settle ring closes, then press TAG. Move the
beam off it and the ring falls back. A shy animal on a bright lamp will never let the ring
close at all.

THREE PROFILES
- Night Dive: full tank, the wall from five to forty metres, tag what you can and surface
clean.
- Deep Run: less gas, more lamp, the deep part of the wall. Unlocked at Open Water.
- Blackwater: the open drift column at night, where the strange things are. Unlocked at
Night Diver.

KIT THAT CHANGES THE MODEL
Survey Grants buy regulator, suit, lamp and fins upgrades. Each one moves a number the
simulation reads — draw rate, buoyancy response, beam reach and battery, kick noise — not a
label on a card.

THE LOG AND THE LADDER
Every dive is recorded with depth, tags, air left and how you surfaced. Certification runs
from Snorkeller to Abyss Warden with its own insignia, and eight standing awards track real
conditions, including finishing five dives with an untouched bends meter.

NO ADS, NO PURCHASES, NO ACCOUNT
No network permission, no advertising, no sign-in, nothing to buy. Everything is stored on
your device.
