DISCLAIMER: VOTD IS AN INDEPENDENT PLATFORM. VOTD IS NOT A GOVERNMENT ENTITY, AGENCY, OR SERVICE, AND IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH ANY GOVERNMENT BODY OR OFFICIAL ORGANIZATION. VOTES CAST ON VOTD ARE NON-BINDING: AN INDEPENDENT RECORD OF PUBLIC SENTIMENT AMONG VERIFIED RESIDENTS.
WHAT VOTD DOES
VOTD ("Vote of the Day") publishes one new vote every day on a decision that shapes the area where a resident lives, from city hall to the State Capitol and Congress. Each vote is a yes-or-no question sourced from an agenda item, ordinance, bill, or news article. Every vote comes with a link to its source. Results are always shown as totals for the area once enough verified residents have voted. VOTD never publishes how any one person voted.
VOTD does not endorse candidates, parties, or ballot measures, and does not lobby for or against any policy.
Aggregate results published on VOTD reflect the opinions of the verified residents who chose to participate in a given vote. They are not statistical projections of the population at large and should not be cited as such.
WHERE VOTD IS AVAILABLE
VOTD is first going live in Sacramento County, California. Anyone else can sign up to see final results when they become public.
WHO CAN VOTE
Voting is open to U.S. citizens 18 or older whose home is in an area VOTD serves. Sign-in uses a phone number and a one-time code, plus a confirmed email address. The resident's home address is then confirmed by a records check, a location check at home, or an ID document, and votes count in the results once it is. Each vote counts only in the resident's own area.
