One thing that you have to be aware is that Google Maps and the most common navigation apps won't work here! In fact Venice uses a special way to create addresses that is pairing a "Sestiere" (something similar to a district) to a ordered number.
This app help you to find the precise spot where you should go using precise GPS coordinates of each civic number, just input the number, select the "Sestiere" and you're good to go.

The second thing to be aware of is the tide, having a precise and up-to-date value of the tide is mandatory. In this app you will find the real time (with less than 5m delay) value. Remember, anything more than 80 could mean wet feet! Pie a mojo's name come from the venetian language for "Wet feet" exactly because it helps not to get some!
