Have you received a text message asking you to call your credit card, bank, or courier on a number starting with 893 or 899? It's a scam: those numbers cost up to €2 per minute and empty your credit in minutes.
notruffa stops these calls before they get through.
What it does
• Blocks calls to premium-rate numbers 893, 894, 895, and 899. It works even without internet.
• Warns you before calling a number reported as a scam on notruffa.it, even if it's saved in your address book: you can choose not to call, or call anyway.
• Warns you before calling foreign numbers that make short calls to get expensive callbacks.
• Tells you when you're calling a telemarketing number.
• If you want, it warns you when a number reported as a scam calls you, and can block it without it ringing.
• Monitor a suspicious number, website, or SMS: paste it into the app, or share it from Messages.
• Allows you to report a number that has scammed you or attempted to scam you.
The list of reported numbers is automatically updated daily on notruffa.it.
Designed for beginners
Large text, few words, a single screen for each alert. It can be set up in minutes, even by a child or grandchild, and then works automatically: no need to open it. You can choose from four different appearances, including a clear, high-contrast one.
Your privacy
The numbers you call and those who call you are monitored on your phone: they are not sent to anyone, not even notruffa.it. The text of the messages you monitor never leaves your phone. The app does not require your address book, call log, or SMS, and is ad-free.
How much does it cost?
€0.99 per year, with the first month free. The subscription renews automatically every year and can be cancelled at any time from Google Play. Without an active subscription, the app doesn't protect you: it lets all calls through and clearly states this.
What it can't do
• It doesn't see calls made via WhatsApp, Telegram, or other apps: it only monitors calls from your phone.
• It doesn't recognize all scam numbers: if a number isn't listed, the call goes through normally. If in doubt, check it in the app.
• It doesn't see calls from hidden numbers or incoming calls from numbers saved in your address book.
• To actually call a premium rate number, you need to disable Notruffa's protection in your Android settings.
