The project's primary objective is to use currently available technologies to immediately and automatically alert lay personnel, whether trained or not, in the use of AEDs (First Responders – BLSD), thus reducing the time it takes to administer defibrillation to victims of cardiac arrest (CRA).
The app is fully integrated with the 118 Emergency Call Center of the Autonomous Region of Valle d'Aosta and allows registered individuals in the vicinity of a cardiac arrest event to be alerted the moment the 118 Emergency Call Center registers it. Those receiving the alert can then make themselves available to intervene. The app displays a map of the registered and available AEDs and the location of the event requiring intervention.
The app also provides the option to participate in the census of AEDs in the Aosta Valley region with the following functions: "report a new AED" and "report a problem." For each AED, in addition to its location, you can define its availability (days, times) and manage information related to maintenance due dates, with the aim of increasingly effective monitoring of AED presence in the area.
The app also features a documentation section containing useful links, FAQs, procedures, etc.
The ValDAE app provides the following main features:
- Alerts first responders who are near a cardiac arrest within 5 km if the coordinates sending system is active, or based on the Alert Areas indicated in the profile.
- Mapping of the public defibrillators closest to your location.
- Support for monitoring AEDs in the area by reporting anomalies on registered AEDs.
- Support for monitoring AEDs by adding new AEDs to the database.
- Emergency call to 118 with automatic sending of location coordinates.
- Provision of useful information.
- Customization of Settings and Profile.
