About this app

Did you receive a file ending in .p7m via certified email, and your phone can't open it? Verify P7M opens it.

A .p7m file is a document enclosed in a digitally signed envelope: a business report, a contract, a legal document, an invoice. Your phone won't fit inside it on its own. This app opens the envelope, tells you who signed, and gives you the actual document, ready to read or save.

WHAT IT TELLS YOU, INSTANTLY
• Who signed: the signatory's name, surname, and tax code, on behalf of which company, with which certificate, and when
• If the document is intact: we re-create the document's fingerprint and compare it with the one enclosed within the signature. If someone changed a comma after signing, you'll see it in red.
• If the signature comes back with the signer's certificate.
• What's inside: the PDF (or XML of the electronic invoice, or whatever), with its name, to save wherever you want, share, or open with the app you already use.
• The timestamp, when it's there: who added it and when.

NOT JUST .p7m
• Signed PDFs (PAdES) and unsigned PDFs: they open the same.
• XML electronic invoices, displayed like a paper invoice and can be saved as PDF.
• ZIP archives: the list of files they contain, and you can choose which one to view.
• Separate .p7s signatures, linked to the document they belong to.
• Multiple files together, one below the other.

EVERYTHING STAYS ON YOUR PHONE.
The document isn't uploaded anywhere. The app reads the envelope with its own engine, inside here, and it even works on an airplane: it doesn't even have internet access. No accounts to create, no ads, no statistics, no stored documents. Your deed remains yours.

THREE WAYS TO OPEN A FILE
• from the large buttons on the home screen, one for each file type
• sharing the attachment from Gmail, your certified email app, or WhatsApp
• tapping a .p7m file in your phone's files

IT ALSO OPENS DIFFICULT ENVELOPES
• signatures one inside the other (document.pdf.p7m.p7m), up to six
• envelopes in binary and text form, as received from certified email
• RSA and elliptic curve signatures, with fingerprints from SHA-1 to SHA-512
• files up to 20 MB

WHAT IT DOESN'T DO, CLEARLY SAID
The app performs a technical reading of the envelope. It checks that the certificate comes from an AgID-accredited certifier (built-in trusted list) and that it was valid at the time of signing, and reads the timestamp if present. It doesn't check for revocation: it requires an internet connection, and there's no app (the website verificap7m.it does). For a document that ends up in court or before a notary, an official verification is required. This app is for quick reading and understanding, not for certifying.

There's also a website, if you prefer using a computer: verificap7m.it
Open and verify PEC .p7m files: who signed and the document.
