About this app

It is the App of the Municipality of Parma that allows the display of balanced menus, including school ones, and the receipt of targeted information, for the promotion of healthy lifestyles linked to a healthy diet as well as the culture and sustainability of the territory .
The menus provided in the catering service are created by experts in the sector, for users in good health from 12 months of age onwards, and approved by the U.O. Nutrition of the Food Hygiene and Nutrition Service (S.I.A.N.) Department of Public Health of the AUSL of Parma.
The App, in addition to suggesting meals and educational information, consistent with a balanced diet linked to the territory, thanks to SPID authentication, allows those registered with the catering service of the Municipality of Parma:
- consultation of the personalized menu requested and drawn up by the dietary service;
- the receipt of communications and targeted updates relating to school menus (such as variations for reversals or substitutions of dishes);
- the compilation of the inspection form of the canteen commission by the representatives and its visualization;
- the display of consumption statistics at the educational and school facilities managed by the restaurant service of the Municipality of Parma.
The mission is therefore to support users in their daily nutritional choices, to disseminate science, food culture and traditions of the territory, while providing an independent tool for evaluating the school catering service.
The App was co-financed with POR FERS 20214-2020 funds programmed by the Emilia-Romagna region within Axis 6 Action 2.3.1 relating to the Parma Open Laboratory project.
Eating a meal at school is a moment of fundamental importance, both from an EDUCATIONAL point of view, for the acquisition of correct eating habits, and from a HEALTHCARE point of view, as it represents a healthy and balanced meal (35-40 % of the daily energy requirement).
Public Administrations play a fundamental role in school food supply by identifying the quality requirements of raw materials and the correct indications for the formulation of balanced and varied menus.
The menus proposed are designed to ensure an adequate energy intake, depending on the age group concerned, and are prepared in compliance with the Guidelines and the rules governing the sector.
The menus are formulated in such a way as to respect the recommended intake of nutrients and the distribution of the daily energy requirement for the 5 main meals, and are also drawn up with respect for the seasonality of the raw materials used.
The 2021 menus reached the national podium of the 6th SCHOOL RATING MENU Foodinsider, presented on June 16, 2021 at the press room of the Chamber of Deputies, after being subjected to a public survey by filling in a specific questionnaire prepared by the ATS Metropolitan City of Milan, the Health Protection Agency (ASL Milan 1). The questionnaire was drawn up in full compliance with the WHO guidelines published in the document Public food procurement and service policies for a healthy diet, whose evaluation criteria are the WHO Recommendations, the IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) Indications. , the School Catering Guidelines and the Minimum Environmental Criteria (Green Public Procurement).
As a result of food education projects, some days may undergo changes which will be communicated in advance, while maintaining the frequency of consumption of the various protein groups unaltered. The school menus may also vary in the event of trips, activation of special diets, strikes, unforeseeable events as well as force majeure.
