[Tokupochi Features]
1. Prices steadily decrease
Tokupochi has a system in place that reduces prices over time to prevent food that's still edible from going to waste.
This means that prices start at approximately 40% off the list price, increase by 10% each month, and eventually reach 100% off (free).
Plus, premium members can enjoy 100% off (free) on some items in the third month after they are listed.
Buying discounted foods and clearance items in bulk in the amount you need can also help you save on food costs.
2. New Products Every Week
New products are released every Monday morning at 11:00, and items that are more than a month old are discounted by an even stronger 10%.
*If you sign up for the app, you'll receive push notifications every Monday with the latest product information, which is convenient.
3. Contribute to society by shopping to "reduce waste, save, and reduce it"!
Tokupochi handles food that would have been discarded due to distribution or sales reasons, even though it still has more than two-thirds of its expiration date remaining since production.
Therefore, simply by shopping for a bargain, you can help solve the social issue of reducing food waste.
We give away any products at the end for free, so not a single product has been discarded since the site began operating!
On average, products sell out at 60-70% off.
[Basic Concepts for Minimizing Food Costs]
The key to minimizing food costs while using Tokupochi is not to buy cheap items, but to buy in a way that maximizes the total cost, including shipping.
To achieve this,
1. Focus on highly discounted items (80%-100% off).
2. Purchase multiple items together so that the discount exceeds the shipping cost.
3. Divide Tokupochi products and supermarket groceries into different roles.
It's important to keep these three points in mind.
By choosing products based on this approach,
you can comfortably and consistently reduce your food costs.
[Why are Tokupochi products so cheap?]
① The difference between expiration dates and best-before dates.
The expiration date is a safety-related date, and the best-before date is a guideline for when the product will be tastier. However, from a retailer's perspective,
the expiration date is approximately five days from the date of manufacture, and since the product may be harmful to the body, they cannot sell food after the expiration date.
On the other hand, since the expiration date is a guideline for when a product's freshness will decline, there's no legal problem if food is sold after its expiration date.
For this reason, Tokupochi does not sell products that have passed their expiration date.
Instead, we check with our suppliers to confirm how far past the expiration date a product is still safe to eat, and only sell foods that have been confirmed to be safe.
However, less than 3% of our products are expired.
② The Existence of the 1/3 Rule
This is not a law, but a business practice in food distribution.
However, there is an unspoken rule that if a product has a best-by date that is 9 months from the date of manufacture,
it cannot be sold to supermarkets and other retailers after the first 3 months have passed.
Because of this rule, there are many products that have 6 months left until their expiration date but have nowhere to go, and are potential food waste.
Tokupochi collects these products and makes them available to you.
As a result, the average number of days until the expiration date of the products sold by Tokupochi is about 6 months.
③ Over 600 Partner Companies Share Our Vision
Many manufacturers believe that distributing their products at low prices, which could result in food waste, will lower their brand value and result in waste. They believe this and therefore believe in mass production and mass consumption.
At Tokupochi, we don't simply sell products cheaply; we strive to promote the idea of "not wasting edible food."
We have steadily spread this message to each company, gradually increasing the number of partners who share our vision for reducing food waste.
As a result of these efforts, we now have over 600 manufacturers (manufacturers and wholesalers) who share our vision and offer a wide variety of products.

You can cancel at any time, so if you're interested, consider becoming a Premium member.
≪Standard Membership: ¥1,560 per year (¥130 per month)≫

[Tips for Getting the Most Out of Your Purchase]
① Buy in Bulk
Tokupochi charges shipping fees, so even if you purchase a ¥100 item for free at 100% off,
including shipping, it's still cheaper to buy it at a physical supermarket.
We therefore recommend purchasing a certain amount of products in bulk.
As a guideline, if you purchase ¥2,000-¥3,000 worth of products more than twice a year,
you'll likely save significantly more than the annual premium membership fee.
② Combining Products
Shipping is charged once per purchase.
For this reason, advanced Tokupochi users choose products with discounts of 80%-100% to save more than the shipping cost.
Furthermore, since there's no shipping charge for additional items at 60%-70%,
they tend to buy them before someone else buys them.
③ Combining with Supermarket Shopping
Tokupochi carries products that are difficult to eat on their own, but there may not be an item you want to buy in combination with them.
If you wait for the other item to arrive, it often sells out.
In such cases, combining the two items with your supermarket purchases can create a slightly more luxurious meal than ever before.
Tokupochi is a grocery shopping app that allows you to save money and reduce food waste by using discounted and clearance foods.
