The Compass EX app is a safe and secure tool for mountain climbing. You can create a climbing plan as a climbing notification, and at that time, you can check the gradient intensity of the climbing route, the physical exertion level of the planned route, calorie consumption, weather information, and sunrise/sunset times. During the climb, you can check your current location using pre-downloaded climbing maps and GPS satellites. It also features route navigation, route deviation alerts, weather and lightning information, location sharing with emergency contacts, and a reporting system that supports satellite communication in case of accidents or distress.

Compass is a comprehensive mountain climbing app for enjoying mountain climbing safely and with peace of mind.

* The Mountain and Nature Network Compass has created a new normal for mountain climbing: sharing climbing plans created on the website (https://www.mt-compass.com/) or the EX app with family and friends, and notifying them of your descent after the climb.

* Because it is connected to the police and local governments via a network, it can be used to facilitate a rapid initial response and search and rescue in the event of an accident or distress.

●Using maps from the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan, you can plan your route in the following ways:

・As a recommended feature for beginners, tapping the summit icon of the mountain you are climbing will display recommended routes for the outward and return journeys, allowing you to easily create your climbing route by selecting one.

・When setting a climbing route arbitrarily, in route creation mode, you can set the walking path by sequentially tapping the entry point, waypoints, and descent point on a general climbing route, or by tracing the route line with your finger and connecting them.

・For variation routes such as alpine climbing and canyoning, you can set the route by tracing the map with your finger. You can also deviate from or join general climbing trails.

・Download maps of the area around your planned climbing route, or tile maps covering mountain areas nationwide, to the app to prepare for your climb.

・Even in mountain areas outside of 4G and 5G coverage, you can check your current location with downloaded climbing maps and GPS, and share them with family and friends.

*Web maps in the app will not be displayed outside of coverage areas. We recommend downloading the map in a Wi-Fi environment before your hike.

● Map-linked supplementary functions
- Display the gradient intensity of general routes on the hiking map using different colors.
- Display the daily physical exertion level, which is a guideline for walking the planned route, in 5 levels.
- Route deviation alert.
- Display the distance and elevation difference of the planned route in a graph.
- Display the walking time for each section of the planned route as "My Time" or "Reference Time".
- "My Time" is a function that calculates your own section time based on past log records.
- The "Reference Time" display can be adjusted by + or - according to your leg strength, companions, and other conditions.
- Check the weather forecast (weather, wind direction, wind speed, temperature) for any mountain area nationwide, up to one week in advance.
- Check the trends of rain clouds and rainfall, the trends of thunderclouds, and recent lightning strike locations.
- Receive weather forecasts via email according to the dates of your submitted hiking plan.
- Display the time and direction of twilight, sunrise/sunset, and dusk for each day, for any mountain area nationwide.

●Safety and Security Features (Satellite Communication Compatible)
- Notifies emergency contacts of changes to the descent date and time, and sends messages during the climb.
- Equipped with emergency call SOS functions including 110 (police), text messaging, and photo messaging.
- Notifies emergency contacts of your current location.

● Can be shared with family, friends, climbing clubs, and mountaineering groups.
- Allows sharing of family, friends, and groups when creating a climbing plan.
- The "Companion Plus!" function allows companions listed on the climbing plan to synchronize their EX app with the plan, enabling them to register their own emergency contacts and use additional app features just like the person who submitted the climbing plan. Personal privacy is not shared with others.
- The "Group" function allows you to create groups within mountaineering clubs and climbing enthusiast groups and share climbing plans with members. Administrators can centrally manage group climbing plans.
- The "Current Location" function allows you to send location information and pre-set messages to designated family and friends when creating the climbing plan. Data transmission may be possible even in weak radio frequency bands where voice calls are not possible.

* The "Footprint" function allows users to view their continuous footprints on a map during a hike. When the hiker is outside of a communication range, the display shows the last point where communication was achieved, and automatically resumes once communication is available.

* Hiking Record Editing Function
* Edit GPS walking logs acquired during the hike as a hiking record.
* Add photos and text after the hike and save it as a hiking record.
* Share with companions and groups.
* You can also incorporate the weather during the hike into the hiking record.

* Compass Hiking Data User Feedback
* The "Analyzer" function provides users with data collected by the Compass hiking system as information for their next hike.
* Display of hiker footprints for hiking routes nationwide by year and season.
* Hiking route and mountain area congestion status up to one week in advance.
