The Sony Bank Open Account app is not available outside of Japan. Applications made from outside of Japan cannot be accepted.

How to Apply for a Sony Bank Account

Ratings and reviews

No English support on main app, only this app which is the sign up app. Makes signing up for a bank account easier, but provides zero benefit in actually using or managing account. Very disappointing. For a service advertised as aimed at forgeiners in Japan, this is a massive fail.

Horrible scanning technology. No matter how perfect the photo is, it keeps telling me to try again for scanning my residence card. Didn't matter if I used my S20 Ultra or my Note 10+ the app couldn't read a single photo. This app is ridiculous.

The scanning is a little tricky but it only took me 1 failed attempt to get it figured out. It's not nearly as bad as some people commented here. If you ever tried filling any forms on a Japanese website, you would know it's 10 times worse.
