The Sony Bank Open Account app is not available outside of Japan. Applications made from outside of Japan cannot be accepted.

* Only international residents of Japan can open an account with the Sony Bank Open Account app.
* Each customer is limited to one Sony Bank account.

Ratings and reviews

The scanning is a little tricky but it only took me 1 failed attempt to get it figured out. It's not nearly as bad as some people commented here. If you ever tried filling any forms on a Japanese website, you would know it's 10 times worse.

App crashes nonstop on startup. Completely terrible and can't even send the pic to server. So frustrating

Only issue was with scanning, 1 star less for that. After that all was swift. Received card and token within 7 working days. You should NOT download the official app (Japanese) if you have difficulties understanding. Just create link on your phone homescreen to the ENGLISH online banking site, which is also where you need to register your token and all other settings. Which is also in English.
