■What is a residence card?
A residence card is issued to those who will be residing in Japan for a medium to long term as a result of permission related to their residence status, such as a new landing permission, permission to change their residence status, or permission to extend their period of stay.

■What is a special permanent resident certificate?
A special permanent resident certificate is issued to prove the legal status of a special permanent resident, and contains information such as name, date of birth, gender, nationality/region, place of residence, and expiration date.

■Recommended operating environment
NFC (Type B) compatible terminal equipped with Android 12.0 or later version

Ratings and reviews

So many uninformed reviewers here; I can only guess that not a single one bothered to actually USE the app before reviewing it. If they had, they would know that you need to input the letter/number code on the top right of the card before you are able to scan the NFC chip inside. So you need visual access to the card ANYWAY, at which point you can simply take a photo of it. The purpose of the app is exactly what it is stated to be: To view discrepancies between the visual data and the NFC data, and to confirm that the card is not a forgery.

This app allows ANYONE in Japan to scan someone's foreign registration card under the guise of "verifying the validity of one's visa", but this tool isnt needed by anyone but the bureau of immigration which already has access to said information. This is a blatant and utter violation of one's right to privacy and human rights.

This app does exactly what it says if t does and I think it's a very helpful app. With a lot of scammers with fake Residence Card one can verify the ID card easily. This app can help employers to avoid hiring people with fake IDS
