- Electrically assisted bicycles make transportation incredibly comfortable.
- You can easily reserve a bicycle from your current location using the app, and also reserve a return location.
- Rentals start from 30 minutes, making it convenient for short trips.

- Register your IC card to easily rent a bicycle through the app without a reservation.

[HELLO CYCLING Usage Scenarios]
- For local shopping trips and short trips.
- For commuting to work or school, and everyday travel.
- For leisure and sightseeing trips, and for making memories.
- For emergency transportation in the event of train service suspensions, disasters, or other emergencies.

[How to Use]
1. First, register as a member! There are no monthly fees. It only takes one minute!
You can register an account using your email address or Yahoo! JAPAN ID.
2. Find HELLO CYCLING stations nationwide
After registering for a free membership, launch the app, find a nearby station in your desired area, and reserve a bike.
3. Head to the station and unlock the bike.
Check the "vehicle number" you reserved in the app and press the button to unlock and start riding.
4. With an electrically assisted bicycle, you can ride comfortably to your destination!
Rates start from ¥160/30 minutes.
(Depending on the area, there may be bicycles with different hourly rates. Please check the bicycle usage fee in the app.)
5. Return the bike to a nearby station.
Return the bike to the desired station and manually lock it.
Press the "RETURN" button on the bike's lock to complete the return!

Ratings and reviews

It does not accept phone numbers from my country in Western Europe, so I can't sign up for the service. On the Hello Cycling website, in the tutorials on how to sign up, my country is listed but not in the app. Terrible. Wouldn't it be better if they accepted numbers from all over the world or simply used email addresses as the primary account identifier?

you need an active phone number to sign up, most travel e-sims are data only and don't have a phone number linked to them. this is flawed, we should be able to sign up using an email address instead. you've made it incredibly difficult to hire a bike when things could be more simple. haven't even used the app or the bikes yet and I'm already severely disappointed

Costwise, the service itself is passable, only if you happen to be someone who desperately needs it. But if you’re looking for something that makes life a little easier, you'll most likely be pulling your hair out, throwing your phone at the wall due to the app's poor performance/disorganized features.(Edit) In the recent updates since 2025 May, the app's performance has been greatly improved. I hope this also resolved next: Searching for places in JP doesn't work in EN version, which should.
