"Photo English Vocabulary" is an app that lets you easily check the Japanese meaning of English words by taking a picture of them with your camera.
When you take a picture of an English word with your camera, the app automatically reads the word from the image. You can check and edit the read word on the spot, and you can also search for its Japanese meaning. It's convenient when you encounter unfamiliar English words on overseas products, signs, instruction manuals, or packaging. It reduces the effort of typing in English words, allowing you to quickly look up words you're curious about.
The app uses EJDict for its dictionary data, containing over 47,000 entries. Since the dictionary data is stored within the app, an internet connection is not required to search for English words. You can save the English word, its Japanese translation, and the picture you took. Saved words can be reviewed all at once later.
You can also use saved words for English vocabulary learning. In English word → Japanese, you can recall the English word by looking at the picture and check the Japanese translation. In Japanese → English word, you can learn by recalling the English word by looking at the Japanese translation.
In addition to reviewing your usual English vocabulary, you can also save words you encounter during your English studies as your own personal vocabulary list. No account registration is required. Saved words and images are stored on your device.
