Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and the times tables — math practice for ages 6 to 9.
Instead of working through a drill book, your child writes the answer with a finger on the problem flying at them, and beats the monster in front of them.
Kids can start as soon as they can write numbers — and there is a tap-to-answer mode for those who cannot yet.
■ Write the answer with your finger
Write a number with your finger at the bottom of the screen and it is read right there. One digit or two, it works the same way.
Because your child writes the answer instead of picking it from a list, what they worked out in their head is what they give.
Handwriting is read on the device itself. What your child writes never leaves the phone.
■ If writing is hard, pick from 4
Switch to "Pick from 4" in Settings and the answer comes from four scrolls, placed on a magic circle. Kids who are not used to writing numbers yet can still play.
How quickly the writing is read has three settings — Fast, Slow, and Button — so a child who writes slowly is not cut off in the middle of a number.
■ Quick start, or pick your own
- Quick start — six courses, from Level 1 Easy to Level 3 Hard. Each one mixes the problems for that level. Start here if you are not sure.
- Pick your own — addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, down to the level. Practice only the shape your child is stuck on: carrying, 2 digits + 1 digit, and so on.
- Times tables — the 1 through 9 tables. They come in order from ×1, nine problems to a round. Any one your child missed comes back at the end, so finishing a round means every one was answered.
■ Endless Battle
A mode with no finish line. The difficulty moves a little with how well your child is doing, so the problems stay right at the edge of what they can solve. Stop whenever you like.
■ There is no losing
Each problem has a time limit, but running out of it is not game over. The answer appears, and tracing it moves the game on — a problem they could not do becomes a moment to write it once and learn it.
Nobody is scolded for a wrong answer. The same problem simply comes around again.
■ Progress that stays
Clearing a stage earns up to three stars, depending on how many problems were missed.
How far your child has gotten in each course shows at a glance on the mode screen.
The results screen lists the problems they missed.
■ For parents
- No in-app purchases. Nothing in the game costs money.
- No account and no sign-in. We collect no personal information.
- Progress stays on the device. "Erase all" in Settings clears it at any time.
- Ads appear on the mode screen and after a stage ends. Never during a battle.
- The app goes online in two places only: loading an ad, and downloading the handwriting data the first time writing is used. Nothing else is sent anywhere.
- Music and sound effects have separate volume controls in Settings.
- The display can be switched between English and Japanese.
