About this game

You play as a bipedal frog employed by the mysterious start-up company "Cat & Frog Inc.". Fend off enemies seeking to stop you and overcome the challenging landscape as you head toward your destination.

At the beginning, you'll likely be surprised by your skimpy amount of HP and crappy weapon. And when you run out of life, you are hospitalized and have to restart from the beginning of the stage. But you can keep collecting and saving up money to go ""shopping"" to increase your HP and purchase powered-up weapons to take down enemies you couldn't defeat before. The further you get, the stronger you feel yourself become - and it feels good.

The characters appearing in between stages are one of the game's main features. You'll meet your coworker, who is a cat (for some reason), your president (also a cat), and an office lady of an unknown species. They work like you do, slog through overtime like you do, complain, get chewed out, and even comfort each other, just like everyone else.

Enjoy and experience the unique world of Kero Blaster!

A wonderful and charming 2D platformer with linear run and gun gameplay. The way shooting is manual, but locks in the direction you set it to allows the game to have you focus more on movement, while the chunky skeumorphic buttons make sure that you can keep a good level of control over the game without the ease of misinputs that plagues many mobile games with manual controls. Level design is enticing but not precice, and accomodates the controls by not requiring you to change your aim mid jump.

It is funny, I find myself playing this more than Cave Story. Don't get me wrong, I love Cave Story but some of the backtracking in that game was killing me the second time playing it. This game is simply "get from point A to point B" with the story having some pretty chill dialogue but it doesn't stop you from actually progressing which I loved. I swear games that stop me from continuing (I am looking at you Pokemon) get pretty annoying the second run through. Just let me explore! Anyways, the bosses were a joy to take down again and the music was pretty solid. Although this game didn't really do much to stand out from the crowd, I like to think that this game was just playing it safe on the market. Nevertheless, it was fun. I went ahead and bought this again because why not?

Kero Blaster does not disappoint. Fun levels, fun guns. While the first playthrough is fairly easy, with a few annoying boss fights, the second playthrough "ZANGYOU" (Overtime) is where the real game is at. The second time through all of the stages get tweaks to their layout, while still keeping the overall shape of the area the same. Overall, if you're into run-and-gun platformers, it's a fun game to play through, worth the $6 to me. If Cave Story was Metroid-like, Kero Blaster is Contra-like.
