The Jus Cogens App provides quick access to key principles of international law, core legal norms, major treaties, and essential terminology. The application is designed for educational purposes and allows users to easily navigate between legal concepts and source materials.
Home Screen
The Home tab provides the introduction to the application.
From this screen you will see:
the title of the application
the version number
the main navigation bar at the bottom of the screen
Use the bottom navigation bar to move to other sections of the app.
Norms
The Norms section presents the foundational principles of jus cogens and other recognized norms of international law.
Features include:
A list of norm categories
Quick navigation buttons at the top of the page
Scrollable explanations of each legal norm
Each section explains the meaning and significance of the norm in international law.
Treaties
The Treaties section provides access to relevant international treaties and legal instruments.
Features include:
Organized treaty sections
Scrollable treaty text
Automatic navigation when cross-references are selected
When a cross-reference is selected in another part of the app, the application will automatically move to the relevant treaty provision.
Glossary
The Glossary provides definitions of key legal terms used throughout the application.
Features include:
Search bar for locating terms quickly
Expandable definitions
Tags related to legal concepts
Cross-reference buttons linking to treaty provisions
Selecting a cross-reference will take you directly to the relevant treaty section.
Cross-References
Some sections include cross-reference buttons.
When selected:
the application will automatically switch to the appropriate treaty section
the referenced article or provision will appear on screen
This feature allows quick navigation between legal principles and their source documents.
