A Little KenKen History:

KenKen was developed in 2004 by acclaimed Japanese mathematics educator Tetsuya Miyamoto (no, not two guys named Ken). His goal was to improve his students’ math and logic skills... and what better tool than a puzzle? So he developed one that would be understandable, fun, and challenging for anyone at any level. Most importantly, he wanted the puzzle to encourage independent thinking, emphasizing logic, reasoning, concentration, and perseverance. His puzzles immediately met with unbelievable success and are now played the world over by children, adults and the elderly. Since its invention, KenKen has become the world's fastest growing (and most enjoyable) puzzle and has proven to be one of the world's best brain exercises.

The game itself is great, but the undo button seems to be bugged. If I press the undo button several times, continue from that point, and press the button again in the future, it will take me back to the first occasion in which I deviated from the initial path. Pressing the redo button will only move you one choice after the initial deviation. I'll come back to the app once this is fixed, because it completely ruins puzzles, especially when I'm trying to play above my comfort level (9x9 hard)

Lots of options including grid size and challenge level. I've not seen a single bug in the game itself. You do have to pay for puzzles pretty fast, but prices are great, especially as this game appears to do a lot of client-side processing, making it a handy lightweight option when you're off WiFi. The Google Play store renewal didn't work for me. The help and support desk kept emailing me immediately as we worked through the problem with Google Pay (and fixed it quickly).

Quick fun. Ideal to fill empty times that are short as they most are these days. Quick enough that the search for the next move is not frustrating. Ads do icrease the level of annoyance but, wih this KenKen, the annoyance level is low. If it would increase significally, I would have to find another game. After all, the purpose of any game is to have just fun. I like the clear display of choices of grids and levels of difficulty. Altogether I'm quite happy with the diversion this game offers. Plus it's an intelligent game. Makes us think, or at least calculate.
