Scanning is a bit of a pain, but for US passport holders, the RFID chip is about 1/3 to 1/4 of the way down from the top, on the backside of the passport. Once you get the initial first dot saying it detects the RFID, hold it there for about one minute. It'll slowly get more dots as it reads the information. Similar to the iPhone too. It might help to remove your phone case and passport cover. It took a few tries to get it down. I was able to exit Korea super fast with this app!

I had the same issues that others have had. I can't understand how the Koreans can't make a decent app. After about 30 minutes and some help from chatGPT I was finally able to get registered. My boarding pass automatically synced to the app. I saved maybe 10 minutes in line, so only 20 minutes more to break even on my time investment!
