asy My Server turns an Android phone or tablet into a file server on your own network.
Start the server and the app shows you an address such as http://192.168.0.10:8080. Type that into a browser on a PC, laptop or tablet connected to the same router, and you can open, send and receive the files on your phone — with nothing installed on the device you connect from.
■ What it does
- A file manager that opens in the browser — no app needed on the other device
- Upload — drag files into the browser window, several at once
- Download — click a file in the list to pull it down
- Play video, music and photos straight in the browser, and drag the progress bar to move through a file
- Subtitles — SRT and VTT files named after the video are found and shown with it
- Create, rename and delete folders
- Accounts and permissions — read only or read and write per account, each with its own folder
- Connected devices — see who is connected, with IP address, time and request count
- Status — transfer speed, total traffic, memory and storage in use
- Quick access — QR code, copy address, open in browser
- Keeps running with the screen off, and stops from the notification
- Change the port (1024–65535) and choose the folder you share
- Six languages in both the app and the browser page — English, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Russian and German
■ Who it is for
- Anyone tired of hunting for a cable to get photos and video off a phone
- Anyone who would rather not put private files in a cloud
- Anyone who wants to watch what is on the phone on a big browser window
- Anyone who wants to open one folder to a guest and nothing else
■ Please note
- Easy My Server works inside your own network (Wi-Fi, Ethernet or tethering). It is not a way to reach your files from outside the house.
- The connection is plain HTTP and is not encrypted. Use it on a network you trust and do not leave the server running on public Wi-Fi.
- With no accounts, anyone on the same network can reach the shared folder. Add an account and only people who know the user name and password get in.
Files move between your own devices. The app gathers nothing to send anywhere else, there are no ads, and there is no account to create.
