So nice to see a simple app that just does what it says, is not an apocalyptic ad bombing mission and it's review column hasn't turned into a trollfest. . Thank you for a great contribution to the community via the Play Store. Now if I could only use it, though. :( On a landscape mode only device the screen is just squished and elongated on a 1024x600 device. The screen shots above make it look like the perfect utility otherwise. Using them as a guide I can see what those really thin squished icons are supposed to be, though some won't respond to a touch and you can not get out of the options screen at all as the 'cancel / save' seems to be on the very bottom of the screen, just outside of the digitizer range. I mean, I could get real creative with driving and even then, that would still be a wobbly 60 degree angle. Although it wouldn't technically be texting and driving, none the less, it would require at least a similar attention level .. and is illegal in many states. Giving it a half way up the scale review due to the intentions and effort.

I just uploaded an update that includes a lot of improvements: portrait and landscape interface design, two selectable themes, instructions on first run and many other things. Your evaluation has been greatly appreciated and has been taken into account to make these changes. So thanks again, I hope you like it!

Misleading title. It has no tools to test one's microphone. It's like any of your other apps that can record a voice note except it can't do any thing they can do like chat to friends, share a file, record a video or take a photo. Why would anyone use this to test their mic? They already know it's messed up if it's not working in their other apps and if it is working, they don't need to "test" it. Its really the worst all ever. And Google is lame for not allowing us to give it zero stars.

I'm sorry you didn't like it. Mic Test is an app to test the mic. Results are shown by vumeter and listening to a short recording with maximum quality. Communications mode allows you to hear the sound as others will hear you on calls with NS. And samples are saved for later comparisons. If this is not what you want, this app is not for you.

It works really nice except it tells me that my mic is connected whenever it is but there isn't an option so that it'll pick the audio only from my external mic.it only takes audio directly from my phone even if my mic is connected and the app says it is connected. I went to the help section of the app and I see that normally I'll have to choose the microphone option but when I go back to the option I don't see that as shown in the help section. If this problem gets resolved I'll give 5 stars

I'm sorry. Let me clarify it. The app with red and green dots says which microphones are detected but it is only the operating system that decides which microphone applies for each use. When you choose communications or direct mic, we simulate use for calls or video recording, ie. It is always the operating system that decides which mic to use.

What's new

Compatibility with new versions of Android.
Detection of bluetooth devices may be different as new versions of Android have changed their behavior.
Tapping the microphone on the interface shows the version of the app and updates the detection of Bt devices.
Added characters to the file name. D Direct sound, C Communication, B bluetooth, W wired microphone.
