The scanner never stops. Neither does your step count.
KITT's dashboard, cut down to a watch face: three columns of red light standing in the middle of the dial, a count in green either side of them, and the time in a seven-segment window with MPH set beside it — the way it read from the driver's seat.
THE SCANNER
Three columns of red light above the clock, and they do not stand still. They rise and fall together four times a second — the two outer columns always level with each other, the middle one four bars past them at the top and four at the bottom — each column brightest at its centre and fading almost to nothing at its ends.
It is not a reading. It is the voltage display off KITT's dash, and what a voltage display does is move. While you are looking at the watch, the scanner is running.
THE TWO COUNTS
Left, under the footprints, the steps you have taken today. Right, under the heart, your heart rate, live. Both set in the same green the symbols are drawn in, straight onto the black of the panel.
THE LINE UNDER THE CLOCK
The battery, read left to right like a fuel gauge: four red bars, four yellow, six green. At the very end of the day it is a single red bar at the left.
AND THE LAMP BESIDE THE TIME
Three squares at the corner of the window, green over yellow over red, lit as far as the gauge below has reached. Three squares is a good battery. One red square is not. You can read it without counting anything, which is the whole point of a lamp.
THE RING
The day's steps against your goal, drawn from twelve o'clock clockwise around the outside of the dial. It closes into a full circle when you get there.

ON THE WRIST
Leave always-on enabled and the panel goes dark, leaving the hour and minute alone in a dim red that drifts a few pixels each minute so no pixel carries a stroke for long. Raise your wrist and the dash lights up again, scanner and all.

It is the legend the dashboard carries, and it is here because the dashboard carries it. The face measures no speed.
YOUR DATA NEVER LEAVES YOUR WATCH
Your steps and your heart rate are read on the watch and shown on the watch. Nothing is collected, nothing is stored and nothing is sent anywhere — there is no server to send it to. The body sensors permission is the only one asked for, and it is what lets the pulse appear at all.
NO ADS. NO SUBSCRIPTION. NO ACCOUNT.

No menus to learn. Install it, choose it, and the scanner is on. It follows your watch's own 12- or 24-hour setting.
