The Dhammachai International Research Institute (DIRI) of New Zealand and Australia conducts various activities in education and research in Buddhist Studies. The objectives are as follows.

1) For research and study of the original teachings of the Buddha without any prejudice against any school or field of study, such as Theravada Maha Tharayan or Wachiraya

2) to promote both academic studies of Buddhism, especially the origin of Buddhism and the application of teachings in daily life

3) Establishing their own journals by institutions which will publish articles related to these objectives

4) Collaborate with similar centers in other educational institutions in organizing seminars and conferences etc.

Research on "The original teachings of the Buddha" have been conducted by the institute for many years. Therefore, the Institute organized an international seminar on early Buddhism with the cooperation of Buddhist scholars from around the world with research branches related to early Buddhist studies.
