easysync sends clipboard text and files between your own devices, end-to-end encrypted. There is no account, no cloud storage and no server of ours in the middle.
Your data. Your devices. Your privacy.
HOW IT WORKS
• Pair two devices once: one shows a QR code or a link, the other scans or pastes it. Both screens then show a six-digit code. Compare the digits and confirm only if they match.
• After that the devices find each other on their own. On the same network they connect directly. When they cannot reach each other, the encrypted traffic goes through a relay that you run or choose. The relay cannot read it.
• Send text from your clipboard with one tap, or share a file from any app with "Send to…". The other device decides whether to accept.
• Transfers survive a dropped connection, a restart of the app or a switch from direct to relay: a file continues from the last part the receiving device has safely stored.
WHAT YOU NEED
easysync connects devices that run easysync. The Android app pairs with the easysync desktop app, the command-line program, the web app or another phone. Install one of them on your other device first (see easysync.me).
PRIVACY AND SECURITY
• Clipboard text and files are encrypted on your device and stay encrypted until they reach your other device, also when they pass through a relay.
• No account, no sign-up, no advertising, no analytics, no tracking.
• The app only reads the clipboard when you tap to send. It does not watch the clipboard in the background.
• The pairing screens and the view of received clipboard text are hidden from screenshots and the app switcher.
• Notifications never show the pairing digits, a link or clipboard text.
• Revoke a device at any time. A lost phone must be revoked on each of your other devices.
• The protocol and the design documents are published at easysync.me/docs.
GOOD TO KNOW
• A relay is optional and is not provided by the app. If your devices are not on the same network, set up a relay of your own (instructions at easysync.me) and enter its address and access token in the app. The relay sees IP addresses, when and for how long you connect and how much data you send, not the content.
• Both devices must be online for a transfer. Nothing is stored for a device that is offline.
• The app deletes its copy of a received file 7 days after the transfer ends, whether or not you saved it. A copy you saved or shared elsewhere is yours.
• easysync is pre-release software and has not had an independent security review.
PERMISSIONS
• Camera: only to scan a pairing QR code. Pictures are not saved or sent.
• Notifications: only if you turn them on, to tell you that a device wants to pair or send you something.
• Nearby devices / local network: to find your own devices on the same Wi-Fi.
• Internet: to connect to your devices and to your relay.
