The Fiat Strada, which translates to "Street" in Italian, was a sleek and futuristic family vehicle designed by Italian automotive designer and engineer Sergio Sartorelli. Initially introduced in 1979, it sold well and finished second to the Simca-Chrysler Horizon at the European Car of the Year awards.

Despite its controversial appearance, the Fiat Strada was dominant in Brazil and became the sixth-best-selling vehicle in the country in 2012. However, the model was abruptly discontinued in the United States when Fiat pulled the plug on its dealer network. The second-generation Fiat Strada, introduced in 2013, boasted a more prominent grille with the Fiat logo prominently displayed, replacing the more miniature Italian flag embedded in the grille. The updated model also included LED lighting clusters and a new body shell, with most of its components being brand new.

Fast forward to 2020, and Fiat unveiled the latest refresh of the Strada, which was based on a new MC-P modular platform descended from the Fiat Argo. It featured front MacPherson suspension and rear suspension taken from the Brazilian Fiat Fiorino, with parts of the cockpit taken from the Fiat Mobi models.

One of the most important changes made to the Fiat Strada over the years was the introduction of a double-cab seating version in 2010, featuring four seats while maintaining the same wheelbase. Although it had a contemporary design, the Strada still retained a humble wheelbase from its predecessor, the 128, which was replaced in the Fiat range.

Despite its success in Brazil, it is unfortunate that Fiat discontinued the Strada in the United States, as it had the potential to be a compelling alternative to the Volkswagen Rabbit. Today, many car enthusiasts appreciate the Strada for its distinctive character and modern design, and it remains a rare gem on the road.
