K Player plays the videos already on your phone — no account, no internet, no fuss.

■ FINDS THE VIDEOS OTHER PLAYERS MISS
Android's media index deliberately skips two kinds of folder: any folder whose name begins with a dot, and any folder holding a .nomedia file. Telegram, download managers and gallery-lock apps save video into exactly those folders, so much of what is on your phone never shows up in an ordinary player. In K Player, Settings > Add a folder lets you point at one of them once, and its videos join your library for good.

■ PLAYS WHAT OTHERS REFUSE
Downloaded a film that other players will not open? K Player decodes it in software when your phone's chip cannot. MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV, WEBM, TS, FLV, 3GP and more. H.264, HEVC, VP9, AV1 video with AAC, AC3, E-AC3 and Opus audio. 4K and HDR on phones that support it.

■ CONTROLS THAT GET OUT OF THE WAY
• Swipe the left edge for brightness, the right edge for volume
• Swipe sideways to scrub through a film
• Double tap either side to skip
• Press and hold to fast-forward — the longer you hold, the faster it goes
• Pinch with two fingers to zoom
• Every gesture can be switched off in Settings

■ SUBTITLES
Loads .srt and .ass files sitting next to your video, and any subtitle track inside it. Change the text size and colour, and nudge the timing when a subtitle runs early or late. Choose the text encoding for subtitle files saved in an older format.

■ AUDIO
Switch between audio tracks in a multi-language file. Ten equalizer presets and a volume boost for films recorded too quietly. Nudge the audio timing when sound and picture drift apart.

■ YOUR LIBRARY
Browse by folder or as one list, with favourites, recently watched and search.

For a folder Android hides from apps, use Settings > Add a folder and choose it yourself. Nothing is scanned that you have not pointed at.
