Native bees sting lack Maya area. One species, the Melipona beecheii, has been managed by the Maya for more than two thousand years ago; the ancient technology for cultivation is known Mayan meliponicultura. This Mayan bilingual and Spanish application aims to promote the conservation of this tradition.

The "Mayan Bees" application includes two modes: virtual reality that provides the option of knowing in detail beecheii Melipona bees, called in Yucatec Maya as Xunaan Kab, their hive and its products. In addition, you can harvest honey from Melipona beecheii, virtually, with the technique that the Maya have practiced since pre-Hispanic times. Augmented reality allows the user to enter a colony of these bees and travel within, tour the nursery area and the storage area where bees deposit the nectar into honey and store transformed the collected pollen.
