About this app

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER
BMGIS is an independent field utility application developed by a private entity. It does not represent, and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, authorized by, or an official application of Jabatan Ukur dan Pemetaan Malaysia (JUPEM), data.gov.my, MAMPU, or the Government of Malaysia.
BMGIS is designed solely for utility users in Malaysia who need to search, locate, and check benchmark (BM) reference points.

COMPLETE EXHAUSTIVE LIST OF DATA AND INFORMATION SOURCES
To fulfill full transparency requirements, all features, maps, and reference lookups in this application are powered entirely by the integrated BMGIS Database. The BMGIS database aggregates and relies on exactly five (5) distinct data streams, service layers, and core datasets. There are no other sources of information utilized by this application:
1. Official Government Data Source (Peninsular Malaysia):
Benchmark reference data for Semenanjung Malaysia (Datum DTGSM) is sourced from Malaysia's Open Data Portal archive. This dataset is publicly published by Jabatan Ukur dan Pemetaan Malaysia (JUPEM).
• Dataset Link: https://archive.data.gov.my/data/ms_MY/dataset/senarai-stesen-tanda-aras-di-semenanjung-malaysia-merujuk-datum-dtgsm

2. Official Government Data Source (Sabah & Sarawak):
Benchmark reference data for Sabah and Sarawak is sourced from Malaysia's Open Data Portal archive under Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY). This dataset is publicly published by Jabatan Ukur dan Pemetaan Malaysia (JUPEM).
• Dataset Link: https://archive.data.gov.my/data/ms_MY/dataset/stesen-tanda-aras-sabah-dan-sarawak
3. Supplementary Independent Unlisted BM Dataset:
For physical benchmarks encountered in the field that are entirely missing or absent from the original government datasets listed above, the BMGIS database utilizes a supplementary, independent custom database layer. This secondary dataset is generated, hosted, and maintained directly by the developer to map these unlisted coordinates. This data is entirely non-governmental.
4. Third-Party Base Map & GPS Location Infrastructure:
The base map visualization layers and spatial coordinate calculations are provided via the Google Maps SDK and Google Maps API services.
• Source Provider: Google LLC (google.com)
5. User-Generated Community Content:
Regardless of whether a benchmark originates from the official government files or the developer's independent dataset, the BMGIS database processes shared crowd-sourced field data submitted directly by authenticated app users. This data stream includes localized photos, device GPS status checks, condition reports, votes, and text comments. Account identifier details (usernames and emails) are collected strictly for secure session validation and verification code delivery. Users can request full account deletion at any time; upon account deletion, personal identity markers are permanently scrubbed, and associated field utility content is safely anonymized to preserve benchmark database map integrity. These submissions are stored securely on private servers, are completely separate from official government survey values, and are used functionally within the app community.
🛠️ MAIN FEATURES

• Search the integrated BMGIS database for benchmark reference records by BM number, state, or description.
• Find nearby BM records using device hardware GPS coordinates.
• View original government reference positions alongside custom unlisted data layers and separate community-updated positions.
• Submit BM photos, GPS observations, comments, and condition reports from the field for any benchmark.
• Vote on or report community-submitted updates.
• Save updates offline on your phone storage and upload them later when internet access is available.
