About this app

FreqMapper helps Meshtastic communities see where their radio network works in the real world.

Connect your Meshtastic radio through Bluetooth, select your region, and start a mapping trip. FreqMapper records the phone’s GPS position and sends tagged radio tests while you travel. Coverage is marked as verified only when a separate FreqMapper Watcher receives the test over the mesh.

Features include:

• Regional Meshtastic coverage maps
• Independently verified radio coverage
• Bluetooth radio connection and channel setup
• User-started wardrives with visible status
• Trip history and route review
• Coverage-test and relay status
• Freq51 and MediumFast radio chat
• Automatic cleanup of the temporary wardriving channel
• Optional private crash and support reports
• No advertising

FreqMapper never starts a wardrive or connects to a radio automatically. Its shared wardriving channel is added only to an available secondary channel slot and never replaces an existing channel.

Precise location is collected only when needed for a user-started mapping trip. Normal Meshtastic chat stays on the phone and connected radio and is not uploaded to FreqMapper.

For safety, set up FreqMapper before moving. While driving, use a passenger or a securely mounted device and follow local laws.

What’s new

FreqMapper 1.0 (133), changes since build 130:
• Positioned Watchers appear above map coverage with their Meshtastic short names.
• App switching and brief connection interruptions preserve the loaded map and recover the active radio session without blocking the app.

Test:
• Open Map where positioned Watchers are available and confirm their short-name labels stay above refreshed coverage.
