About this app

Sailing Timer is a race-start countdown built for sailboat racing — attention, warning, preparatory, one-minute and start signals, with beeps on the final ten seconds.

• SYNC snaps the clock to the nearest minute so you can bring it in line with the race committee mid-sequence.
• SKIP moves the arming point down the sequence before you start, or jumps straight to the next signal once you're running.
• RESTART brings you back to the top of the sequence without losing the countdown.
• A home-screen widget puts Start, Sync, Skip and Reset one tap away — no need to open the app.

Runs as a foreground service, so the countdown keeps ticking and sounding its signals even with the screen off or the app in the background — exactly when you need it most, in the final minute before the gun.

Customize your own starting sequence and total countdown length, choose your clock colour and sound, and add your boat name and sail number so it's clearly yours on a crowded dock.

• A wind forecast for your sailing venue, pulled from Open-Meteo.
• A quick reference for Racing Rules of Sailing signal flags — class flag, P, I, Z, U, black flag, X, First Substitute, AP, N, S, C, M, L, Y and the blue flag — with their meanings.

What’s new

New: Line Timer — time your port and starboard runs along the starting line before the gun.

• Tap the stopwatch icon to open it right on the countdown screen — the clock keeps running underneath.
• Start it, then tap PORT or STBD as you cross the line on each tack to log that leg's time.
• Get a suggested port-run duration based on your STBD leg, with the ratio adjustable in Settings (defaults to half).
