Used the old version for years. Excellent barebones text editor. Does one thing extremely well. I thought I'd support the devs by buying the new version. **What a mistake**. App repeatedly forgets that it has been purchased and disables both editing and dark mode. I just want a barebones app that does text editing well. For years iA Writer was exactly that... Is it too much to ask that for $30 your app RECOGNIZES THAT IT HAS BEEN PURCHASED AND DOESN'T REPEATEDLY DISABLE FUNCTIONALITY?

**I am editing my review because, through a bit of testing, I've found that this is an office 365 problem and NOT an iA writer export problem** This application typically works beautifully, but export to word currently appears to be broken and defaults to a PDF export and not DOCX as it's meant to. This is actually of importance to me.

Overall, it's a good app for writing and editing markdown files. There are some areas where it needs improvement. It lacks integration with OneDrive, there's no biometric security (pin only), and dark mode has to be manually enabled instead of reflecting the system mode. It also takes a few clicks to toggle on the preview mode. There should be a button in the toolbar to quickly enable/disable the preview mode. These issues are manageable in a free app, but they should be standard in a paid app.

Existing users can continue to use this functionality or log out to remove the Location from Library.
