This app was developed to be responsible for the AR function of Takeo Desk Diary 2021 "Earth Chronicle". However, the contents displayed in AR (continental drift, human movement, global warming, etc.) can be enjoyed by users who do not have this magazine by clicking the'pop-out earth button'on the top page of this app.
Takeo Desk Diary is a desk diary (not for sale) produced by Takeo Co., Ltd. for over 60 years since 1959. In the 2021 edition of "Turning the Earth", our actions and choices living in the present age will determine the future of the earth. Let us consider each day as a scene in the history of global evolution. ――This is a schedule book planned with this concept, which is a set of a monthly calendar and explanations of themes related to the history of the earth.
In the magazine, the history of the earth and humankind is depicted as a multidimensional landscape of time in 12 spreads from January to December. (The unit is 5 billion years, 500 million years, 50 million years, and so on, each of which is reduced by one, and the last is 5 years and 50 years later). However, there are many things that are difficult to imagine from the contents of the magnificent scale only with sentences and photographs.
Therefore, we dynamically expressed the events that are characteristic of each age group with the AR function. For example, continental drift on a scale of 500 million or 50 million years (formation and division of the supercontinent Pangea, isolation of Antarctica and cooling of the earth, etc.), movement of humankind on a scale of 50,000 or 5,000 years, Alternatively, we have developed a system that displays graphs of severe climate change during the ice age with AR 3D globes and graph animations that pop up from the magazine.
(The AR system itself for this 3D globe is a diversion of the 3D globe method that can be viewed on smartphones, which was originally developed by the NPO ELP and has been adopted as the official application of UNUNISDR since 2013.)
For our generation, who lives on the border between print culture and electronic media, bridging and integrating paper booklets (analog media) and digital information systems is an unavoidable civilization issue. AR / MR technology should help with this challenge, but many are still in the stage of rudimentary experiments in the entertainment and advertising fields, and the vast amount of intelligence accumulated in books and print text spaces. Attempts to literally "expand" and "upgrade" heritage with AR technology are still undeveloped. This magazine is an experiment to solve such historical problems.
