About this app

Paying a builder everything up front is a gamble. For tradespeople, finishing a job and then chasing the money is no better. PayTrader splits each job into stages. The homeowner pays for a stage before it starts, our regulated payment provider holds the money, and it's released when the homeowner approves the work.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Agree the job and a price for each stage in the app.
2. The homeowner pays for the first stage by bank transfer or card.
3. The tradesperson sees the money is there and starts work.
4. When the stage is done, they send photos or a video.
5. The homeowner checks the work and releases the payment. Then the next stage begins.

FOR HOMEOWNERS
• Pay one stage at a time, or the whole job at the start if you've agreed that with your tradesperson. Either way, each stage's money stays held until that stage is released.
• The money for each stage is held by our regulated payment provider, not by the tradesperson or PayTrader, until the stage is released.
• See photos or a video of the finished stage before you pay it out.
• If something's not right, raise an issue in the app. Payment for that stage is frozen while it's sorted out.

FOR TRADESPEOPLE
• See that a stage is paid for before you start it.
• Get paid as each stage is approved, so you're not waiting until the end of the job.
• Send a quote, or claim a job a homeowner has shared with you.
• Keep the messages, photos and payments for every job in one place.

GOOD FOR
Kitchens, bathrooms, rewires, extensions, loft conversions, roofing, landscaping and repairs. Any job that's easier to pay for in stages.

HOW THE MONEY MOVES
PayTrader never holds your money. Card and bank details are entered on our regulated payment provider's secure pages, not with PayTrader. Our regulated payment provider holds the money, and identity checks for tradespeople happen on its secure pages.

There's a small fee on each payment, shown before you confirm. No subscription, no listing fee.
