CampChat is a chat app that doesn't need the internet. It talks phone-to-phone over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct, building a small mesh of devices near you. Step into range, and you're in the conversation. Step out, and you're not. There is no server in the middle.
No account. No email. No phone number.
Open the app, pick a nickname, you're done.
Built for the dead zones.
Remote hikes, basements, planes, summer camps, road trips. Anywhere a group of people has phones and no working internet.
Fires, not feeds.
A "fire" is just a chatroom. Create one and anyone in Bluetooth range can wander over.
Permissions, plainly:
- Nearby devices (Bluetooth) — so your phone can find and be found by others.
- Notifications — so you hear messages on your lock screen.
