SshSync keeps a local, offline copy of the video and music library that lives on your own server. It connects over SSH, compares the server's catalog with what is already on your device, and downloads only what is missing — automatically in the background, or manually with one tap. No cloud accounts, no third-party services: your files travel directly from your server to your device.
WHAT IT DOES
• Lists the media library on your server over SSH (a small helper utility runs on the server)
• Downloads new files over SCP and resumes interrupted transfers where they stopped
• Recognizes every file by checksum, so nothing is downloaded twice
• Syncs automatically every 30 minutes, plus manual sync any time
• Shows playback length, file size and a preview thumbnail for each downloaded file
• Search and filter the catalog: all, remaining, active or done
• Designed for tablets first: two-pane layout with your sources next to the file list; works on phones too
SSHSYNC PRO (one-time purchase)
• Add several servers that mirror the same library: up to 3 parallel downloads with automatic failover — a download that stops on one server continues from another
• Per-source network rule (CIDR): sync a server only when you are on the network you chose
• Downloaded-content inspection: browse the download history and remove single records
• Force re-sync of individual files
• Export and import the download history, to move to a new device without downloading everything again
The Supporter option includes everything in Pro, plus your name on the public supporters list if you wish.
WHAT YOU NEED
• Your own server reachable over SSH with key authentication (Linux, macOS or FreeBSD)
• Two small helper utilities installed in the SSH user's home directory — the download link and setup steps are in the app's Settings, and the built-in "Test connection" button verifies the setup
• Android 12 or newer
PRIVACY
No account, no ads, no analytics. The app communicates only with the servers you configure. Your files and your catalog stay between your device and your server. The optional supporters list is the only content fetched from the developer, and only when you open the Pro screen.
SshSync is built for people who keep their media on their own hardware and want it on their device without cables or manual copying. It is intended for syncing content you own or have the right to copy.
Sync video and music from your own SSH server straight to your device.
