Eprobots is the simulation of a two-dimensional world (divided into "cells") populated by individuals (Eprobots) that move, eat, reproduce (if they have eaten enough) and die. Energy or food is continuously distributed in the world. In each simulation step, the Eprobots can move one step in one direction or remain standing. Behavior control is subject to an evolutionary process by means of mutation. It is carried out via internal so-called OISC programs (OISC: One Instruction Set Computer) that are executed in each simulation step. This program represents the genome and is passed on from generation to generation with a mutation factor. Initially, or when there are no more individuals, new individuals are created using randomly generated programs. The use of OISC programs is an alternative approach to neural networks.
