Hawkeye Lite is the small-download build of Hawkeye, made for entry-level Android phones and for anyone counting every megabyte.
WHY THE LITE BUILD EXISTS
On election day the people closest to a polling unit are often the ones with the least room on their phone and the least data left. Lite is the same service in a much smaller package, so a full phone is never the reason a result goes unrecorded.
• A small download and small updates — it fits on a phone that is already nearly full.
• Built as a lightweight app rather than a full native one: less storage, less memory, less data.
• Same account, same reports, same public record as the standard Hawkeye app. Pick whichever suits your phone; nothing is second-class.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
• Report the result at your polling unit — photograph the announced EC8A sheet and the phone reads the figures back, so you only have to check them rather than type them all in.
• Report an incident — vote-buying, intimidation, ballot snatching, BVAS failure and more, with a photo or a short clip. A person reviews every incident before it is published.
• Find your polling unit without a signal — the register is downloaded once and then searched on the phone, so you can still find your unit when the network is congested or gone.
• Follow the count on a live leaderboard built from citizen reports.
• Check the public record yourself — your phone can recompute every hash in the ledger and compare it against the published head. You do not have to take our word for anything.
• Practise first — a mock election lets you rehearse the whole flow without publishing anything real.
WHAT HAWKEYE IS NOT
Hawkeye does not declare election results. Official results are INEC's alone. Everything in this app is an unofficial, crowd-reported observation, published so it can be checked — not so it can stand in for the official count.
WHO IT IS FOR
Accredited observers, party agents, journalists and ordinary voters — particularly anyone on a budget phone or a metered data plan.
Your safety comes first. Never put yourself at risk to capture evidence.
Hawkeye is a non-partisan transparency initiative. It does not tell you how to vote and does not favour any candidate or party.
Hawkeye is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), any government agency, or any political party. Hawkeye does not represent a government entity and does not declare election results. All figures in the app are unofficial, crowd-reported observations.
