IconRush is a quiz game about the Architecture Icons — the 300+ little squares you see in every architecture diagram and half of every slide deck. Can you name them?
It runs entirely on your phone. No account, no sign-up, no ads, no analytics, no tracking. Not "we anonymise your data", not "we only collect crash reports". None. IconRush ships without the Android internet permission, has no backend, and our audited code includes no network path — nothing leaves your device, because there is nowhere for it to go.
FIVE WAYS TO PLAY
• Classic Drill — 10 questions, four choices. Both directions: name the icon, or pick the icon from the name. The second one is much harder than it sounds, because icons in the same category share a colour and only the glyph tells them apart.
• Blitz 30 — 30 seconds. Streak multiplier up to x3. Skipping costs you three seconds.
• Endless — three lives, no timer, and the questions get meaner the longer you survive. How far can you get before you flame out?
• Icon Rain — icons drift across the screen; tap the one you were asked for before it escapes. Same-category decoys arrive at level 2.
• Pass & Play — 2 to 6 players on one phone. Everyone gets the same questions in a shuffled order, so the leaderboard at the end is actually fair.
BUILT FOR MEETUPS
Every run ends with a share card you can post — a rendered image, not a screenshot, in whichever theme you're using.
There's also a stat card: one screen with your handle, your lifetime numbers, your badges and your streak. Hold up the phone and it reads across a table. At a user group that is the whole ceremony — awards handed out by looking at it. First person in the room to reach Icon Rain Level 3, the 10,000-questions club, that sort of thing.
A DAILY CHALLENGE THAT'S ACTUALLY THE SAME FOR EVERYONE
Ten questions a day, generated from the date itself. Everyone in the world gets the identical set — no server involved. So "9/10 today" means exactly the same thing to you and to the person you're arguing with in Slack.
SIX THEMES
Midnight (console at 2am), Classic, Sakura, Miami Sunrise (synthwave, with a sunrise gradient on the Blitz timer), and 8-Bit, which pixelates every icon in real time and swaps the whole interface to a pixel typeface.
The sixth theme, us-east-1, cannot be selected. It has to be earned by failing badly enough at Endless mode. You'll know when it happens. 🔥
STATS THAT DON'T RESET
Lifetime totals, per-category accuracy (it will tell you that you are bad at Analytics), recognition coverage, category mastery badges, and a streak calendar. There is no reset button anywhere. What you've earned is what you show.
Because there is no account, your stats live on the phone. Android keeps them in Auto Backup, so a reinstall usually gets them back — but there is no export file. Settings has a Delete my data action if you want them gone; it erases everything and cannot be undone.
ACCESSIBILITY
Reduced-motion mode across every screen, OS font scaling respected, minimum 48dp tap targets. The game is colourblind-safe by construction: icon shape carries the answer, never colour alone.
ABOUT THE PERMISSIONS YOU'LL SEE LISTED
Play shows every permission an app declares, so here's the whole list. POST_NOTIFICATIONS is used only if you switch on the daily reminder — the one prompt this app can ever show you. RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED lets that reminder survive a restart, and shows no prompt. That's it. No camera, no location, no contacts, no storage.
There is no INTERNET permission, which is the interesting one: the app is granted no way to reach the network, has no backend to reach, and no network code in the app we audit. You can check the permission list yourself.
Free. No in-app purchases, no subscription, no "pro" tier. There is no monetisation here at all.
