Look out for suspicious or missing persons, receive AMBER Alerts, and help make your neighborhood safer. Using the Burgernet app is free and anonymous.

Nearly 4 out of 10 Burgernet actions are solved thanks to tips from citizens. The more people participate, the greater the chance of finding something or someone.

How Burgernet works
Burgernet is used for cases including theft or burglary, hit-and-run incidents, robberies, and missing persons. You'll receive an action notification via the Burgernet app when something like this happens in your area. Seen something? Your information will be sent directly to the police via the app.

AMBER Alert
You'll also receive AMBER Alerts via the Burgernet app when a missing child is in mortal danger. You can recognize an AMBER Alert by its orange color and the title "AMBER Alert."

About the app
The app uses your smartphone's location to send you messages about actions in your neighborhood, even when you're away from home. Participation is anonymous; your information or location is not tracked.

Ratings and reviews

There should be an option to choose a different sound than the standard notification when an alert comes in. I get notifications from Facebook, games, other apps that are not really urgent, I don't check them right away when I'm at work, I don't stop my bicycle & take out my phone for them when on the road. I would like to be able to hear, oh that's Burgernet, let me read it right now. Give us a nice loud, unique beep or honk, please!

Your location history IS being stored if you use this app, even though they say they do not do this. Can see my location settings were correctly given to the app (which is stated to override any earlier location they have) but still kept getting messages of NEW investigations for locations I was at weeks or even months earlier. Absolutely do not trust this and have deleted the app because of it.

Please enable map interaction for investigation tip requests. Otherwise we don't know where the crime took place, we don't know all street in our city by name nor by zoomed in map section, we need to be able to click the map and zoom out for orientation. We are not all taxi drivers ;)

• Verbeterde betrouwbaarheid voor het ontvangen van relevante lokale meldingen.
• Verbeterde verwerking van kindmeldingen met grote afbeeldingen.
