About this app

You can do this with the KNMI app:
• Receive hazardous weather alerts with advice on what to expect and how to prepare
• The hourly weather forecast for your places for today and tomorrow
• The weather forecast per day up to 14 days ahead
• View rain with the precipitation radar
• View the risk of skin damage with the sun power forecast
• Sunrise and sunset times
• Climate information with the weather forecast (temperature)
• See where code red, orange or yellow applies in the Netherlands
• Receive alerts for earthquakes in the Netherlands
• Maps with measurements from KNMI stations combined with citizen measurements. View the current temperature for your places. For example, you can see that it is warmer in the city

Accessibility and sustainability
When designing and developing this app, special attention was paid to accessibility, user-friendliness, sustainability and quality. We have taken into account a broad target group including possible limitations. The app's carbon footprint has been kept as small as possible by applying the rules of Green Software Engineering. Furthermore, the app is ad-free and the source code will be freely available in 2025.

About the KNMI
The climate is changing, the weather is becoming more erratic, the ground is shaking. Keeping the Netherlands safe and livable is becoming increasingly challenging. The KNMI provides society with independent knowledge, advice and warnings about risks in the field of weather, climate and seismology, day and night.

Ratings and reviews

This app is very useful in many ways. The only downside is that when a weather code is given the map is colored in that code color, at that moment you can not check the radar anymore, and i have to fall back to buienradar.nl again. So, unless i missed that view somewhere while code is raised, the app is nice to have, just bring back an option to view the radar images while a code color is active, than it would be perfect.

This weather App is of good quality and accuracy for use in the Netherlands with it's 48 measuring stations. That should be expected from a government agency. The only informatie that I am missing in this App is air humidity!? This can be very useful on hot summer days to be able to determine dry heat or the more fiscale demanding humid heat 🥵. (Dry heat and humid heat differ in their impact on the body primarily due to how they affect sweat evaporation) Hopefully air humidity can be added 🤞🏻

13 oktober 2025: Here in Amsterdam, it's been raining for hours, for days. Low clouds: Apps don't see the rain. Je zult maar dakloos zijn en 100% afhankelijk van het weer. May 2025 or so: Fine for temperature. Sort of. Don't install apps like this if you want to know whether it is going to rain. Just look at the clouds and notice the winds. Otherwise you will constantly be left scrambling by these apps saying there's no precipitation while it's raining or maybe even pouring. 😂 Dutch weather!
