Wind-NL tells you not only *how* hard and from which direction the wind is blowing along the Dutch coast and the IJsselmeer — but also whether today is suitable for flying, kiting, or surfing.

Based on live measurements from Rijkswaterstaat, supplemented with wave and weather data from Open-Meteo.

Three sports, one app
🪂 Paragliding — The ideal wind direction has been set for every soarable site. KustWind compares the current wind to that direction and tells you immediately whether a site is soarable, and whether it is expert-only weather today. Also supports ground work locations.

🪁 Kite — Wind speed at a glance, with the same live measuring stations and trend as the rest of the app.

🏄 Surf — Wave height and wave period, distinguishing between actual swell and local wind waves — so you don't drive to the beach for nothing on a day with a lot of wind but little quality. KustWind also checks whether the wind is onshore or offshore, and warns if strong onshore wind flattens an otherwise fine wave.

More than 22 sites along the entire coast From Schiermonnikoog to Cadzand, and everywhere in between — including the IJsselmeer. Some sites are direct measuring stations, others are interpolated from the nearest stations, exactly as an experienced pilot or surfer would estimate.

Tailored alerts Choose for which sport(s) you want to receive alerts — paragliding, kite, and surf simultaneously is perfectly possible. KustWind checks your favorite sites in the background every 15 minutes and sends an alert as soon as it switches to soarable, kiteable, or surfable. Every morning, also a compact 6-day outlook per site. Trend & History: Each station features a trend chart: measured over the past hour, plus a projection for the next two hours — for wind, kite, and surf, each with its own relevant details (wind direction, wave height, swell).

Major update: Nieuwe sport - zeilen. Nieuwe funtie: vind een adres of locatie in nederland en voeg hem toe. Nieuwe functie: mijn locatie - gebruik het locatie icoontje om het aan te zetten - kies approximate location voor snelheid. (1 x uit & aan om hem te activeren) Meldingen zijn instelbaar op het settings scherm. Ze worden gegeven voor geselecteerde favorieten. - small fix - ui en notificaties. Let op! voor locaties moet toestemming gegeven worden - while using app en locatie moet aanstaan.
