About this app

With VERA you can easily enter observations of plants, mosses, lichens, mushrooms and molluscs. In addition to the input of individual observations, the app has special forms for the measurement programs of FLORON, NMV and BLWG from the Ecological Monitoring Network (NEM).

During fieldwork, smart functions help you stay within a kilometer box or walking route. You can also enter observations and add photos in quick succession.

Once you have finished entering, upload the data to the NDFF Distribution Atlas. Here you can later find and further edit the observations. Experts check your observations and can make inquiries in case of doubt. Once checked, your observations contribute to knowledge about biodiversity in the Netherlands.

To fully use the app you need an account in the NDFF Distribution Atlas.

The main features of the app:

- Lock input fields
- Long press to change forms and observations
- Screen dims when phone is held upside down (save battery)
- Link VERA to the NDFF Distribution Atlas by scanning a QR code in your profile
- Show counting areas on the map
- Convert reserved counting areas for projects such as Het Nieuwe Strepen and Nectarindex into an observation form
- Different types of input forms for plants, mosses, mushrooms and vegetation recordings, among others
