About this game

Fate of an Empire - Age of war is a deep and compelling turn based 4x strategy game with a map editor, detailed empire management, custom troop designs, advanced combat between massive armies and a well-developed technology tree. You have unlimited possibilities to create the empire of your dreams!

Build your own fantasy world and create your own fortune in this 4x fantasy strategy game!

Are you prepared to take control of your own fate?

The world of Fate of an Empire - Age of War consists of two unique levels: the Surface and the Netherworld. You are invited to roam the wild forests as the secretive Elves or dominate the green plains as the unpredictable Humans. Inhabit the huge underworld caves of the Netherworld and take control of the rampaging Greenskins, the swarming Krant or the feared and hated unliving Ende. If you can't choose, play as the rich Dwarves which fear neither the open sky nor the darkness below.

Select your strategy

Fate of an Empire - Age of War allows you to create and manage your own empire. Decide which race to play and what beliefs to follow and create your own story. What strategy to pursue, what your civilization will look like, what kind of troops will defend your borders - all this and more is up to you to decide. Unless your neighbours make the decision for you...

The story that started in Fate of an Empire - 4x strategy continues in Fate of an Empire - Age of War!

Just downloaded the free version of the previous iteration, then saw this had dropped. While no long-term follower of this development arc, I can see big improvement already. Hex is simply better than squares, and I've already designed a cool large world for 10 starts with the new map editor. I wish there was a feature to upload it. The interface seems to have had some visual improvements, too. Well worth upgrading, from what I can see.

I really want to like this one, but there is a lot of missing info from the interface and a lot of things you should be able to tap on to get more info but can't, and the included "rulebook" is abysmally incomplete. I will keep poking at it, but there is a lot that I don't understand and don't know how I will ever understand. Maybe the missing stuff is in the videos the developer has supposedly done.

As far as 4x strategy games go, Fate is pretty damn good. The technology research tree/path makes sense and is very straight forward, the combat is fun yet simple, and yes this is the type of game that is fun to play yet tricky to master.

What's new

Continued work to balance Fate of an Empire and optimise the performance of the AI. This update sees lots of improvements to the AI and it should be more aggressive compared to before. See the rulebook for more details!
