Here are the new app feature highlights:

PERMISSIONS required

*Read phone status and identity (READ_PHONE_STATE)*
Having permission to Read a phones status and identity allows the app to read a unique ID (IMEI) that’s associated with the user’s phone. This allows Snapper to block certain phones from using the Snapper App.

*Read the contents of your USB storage (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE)*
This one looks bad but we can assure you we are not downloading your content and private selfies! We are simply checking your external storage (memory), so that if required you and our in app feedback team can attach photos when using the Apptenitve in app feedback function.

*Full network access (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE)*
The Snapper app communicates with Snapper servers through the internet and data from these servers are needed to read the Snapper card (and perform actions on the card).

*Org.simalliance.openmobileapi.SMARTCARD (SMARTCARD)*
Allows the Snapper app to communicate with secure elements, such as the Snapper SIM.

*View network connections (INTERNET)*
To connect to the Internet, a user will need to be able to view their network connections (then, they will be able to select a network that will allow them to connect to the internet).

Average App experience. Not Turing the NFC chip on an off when using the app is a Major design flaw. Also there is way too little informant about your trips, vs the comprehensive information that is on the Apple version of the app. Why can't both apps be consistent and display all the same compressive information. A very half-hearted effort for the Android version.

I can't believe there's no option to turn off NFC in the app!! The app keeps opening as soon as my credit card comes close to the phone, which in my wallet-style case happens literally every time I use the phone. Telling people to turn NFC off on their phones is not a solution, I use it for other things too. My previous phone didn't have NFC and there is literally no way to top up a snapper card online without it. Worst designed public transport system that I've ever seen.

A really annoying app when you use an NFC Yubikey or your phone as a card holder. The app will open itself anytime it detects any sort of NFC device. Having an option to disable the autoopen would be great but this seems to have been an issue for a while now. Easier to just uninstall the app than to switch between NFC on/off or dealing with the app opening itself when trying to scan any device.
