The mobile application, Oil Palm Crop Physician, is a media application. It transmits information instantly from the right source to oil palm shareholders.
It helps the farmer / beneficiary to send questions to ICAR - IIOPR and get the required information. There are four modules in use, namely (i) Pests, Diseases and Defects (ii) Fertilizer Calculator (iii) Investigation and (iv) Crop Videos. It has a side menu with details about Home, Oil Palm Crop Doctor, Contact Us and Publications.
This mobile application starts with registration, in which the farmer / user has to register on the login page using his / her mobile number. Once the recording is complete, the Dashboard screen of the boot screen application will appear, showing four options: Pests, Diseases and Defects, Fertilizer Calculator, Trial and Crop Videos. The section on pests, diseases and defects shows the respective images of oil palm pests, diseases and defects at one stage. When selecting a specific image, information about the specific pest and disease symptoms and control measures will be displayed. There is also the option to view the video clip if the video is attached.
The Fertilizer Calculator calculates the amount of fertilizer to be used based on the selected fertilizer. The result will be displayed on a palm or acre basis or per hectare basis depending on the selection. The inquiry can be sent to ICAR - II OPR in text and voice format with picture and video. II) OPR answers to the question raised. The app also allows users to interact with each other. Short video clips on oil palm cultivation are available to the user to see the recommended practices.
Mobile application registration and inquiry requires an internet connection. All other functions work offline.
