About this app
On Android, WhatsApp transcribes voice messages in four languages: English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Russian. It does not summarise anything, and it cannot move between languages.
SummarAI does the three things it does not.
ALMOST ANY LANGUAGE IN
A voice message in Italian, German, Arabic, Turkish, Japanese or nearly anything else gets transcribed in the language it was spoken in. No language pack to download, no single language to commit to.
THE SUMMARY IN YOURS
This is the part nothing else does. Someone sends you six minutes of audio in German: you get the transcript in German and the summary in your own language. Long text messages work the same way. You read the point in ten seconds instead of listening for six minutes.
WHOLE CONVERSATIONS, NOT JUST ONE MESSAGE
Come back to forty unread messages and get a paragraph telling you what was decided, instead of scrolling backwards.
BEFORE YOU INSTALL: ONE THING TO SET UP
SummarAI reads WhatsApp notifications to reconstruct who wrote what, and to catch incoming voice messages. To do that it has to understand the notification text, so your WhatsApp interface must be set to one of these seven languages:
Italian, English, Dutch, Spanish, German, Portuguese, French.
This is about the language WhatsApp itself is displayed in, not about the language people write or speak to you in. Those can be almost anything. If your WhatsApp is set to Turkish or Polish, switch the interface or wait until we add it.

HOW YOUR AUDIO IS HANDLED
Being clear about this matters more than a marketing line. Audio is sent to OpenAI's speech-to-text service for processing and is not kept afterwards. It is not used to train anything, it is not sold and it is not shared with anyone else. The connection is encrypted and you can request deletion of your data at any time. The full privacy policy is linked on this page and the app is built to comply with GDPR.
If you would rather no audio ever left your phone, this is not the right app, and it is better that you know now.
NOTIFICATION ACCESS
The app needs permission to read notifications, because that is how it sees messages and voice notes. You grant it explicitly, you can revoke it whenever you want, and nothing is read before you do.
WHAT THIS APP DOES NOT DO
- It does not work offline. Processing happens on a server.
- It does not read anything from before you granted notification access.
- It does not give unlimited free minutes. There is a monthly allowance, then a subscription.
- It is not a recorder and it does not record calls.
- Accuracy depends on the audio. Heavy background noise or people talking over each other will show in the result.
