This application was developed for the Camporells national forest, a public forest of approximately 4,000 hectares managed by the National Forestry Office (ONF) on behalf of the French State. This forest extends in the natural region of Capcir, in the department of Pyrénées-Orientales, in the Occitanie region, in France.
The Au Cœur des Camporells application is aimed at all users of this forest. The objectives of this digital tool are multiple but its main purpose is above all to inform and raise users' awareness of the exceptional nature of the Camporells National Forest and the need to preserve it.
By recalling existing environmental regulations and guiding users in the footsteps of the exceptional heritage of this forest, both natural and cultural, the application allows the preservation and enhancement of the site as a whole. The application allows you to discover the site independently. When you access the numerous points of interest (POI) of the site, the application broadcasts numerous educational and fun content on very varied themes, such as water resources, fauna, flora and habitats, landscapes. , etc. Suggestions for discovery itineraries are also offered. Entering a user profile makes it possible to improve the visiting experience, by targeting accessible spaces and points of interest. Finally, geolocation and public participation in certain specific content of the application (fishing statistics, observation of fauna and flora, satisfaction survey, etc.) is also a way for managers to better understand attendance. and public expectations, in order to continue improving forest management, and in particular the Camporells lake system, concentrating practices.
The design of this application is part of the multifunctional management of the forest carried out by the ONF for decades, but also of a scientific project carried out since 2017. The Camporells national forest has an exceptional natural and cultural heritage, based on a fragile balance between all existing practices, notably pastoralism and leisure activities including fishing. Societal and climatic changes at work in the 21st century. strongly reinforce the issues weighing on the site. A scientific study was initiated in 2017 with the objective of improving knowledge of the Camporells lake system to implement a management plan to preserve water resources. The project essentially aims to better understand the nature and functioning of water resources in the Camporells, and the impact that human practices can have, in particular recreational fishing, pastoralism and public use. Several concrete actions have already been implemented, such as the protection of certain wetlands or experiments concerning fish farming activity. The design of a digital application for the Camporells national forest is one of the transversal actions completing the management plan. From the start, it was designed as an “embedded” application and does not rely on physical developments on site, in order to preserve it.
The Au coeur des Camporells application was designed by the National Forestry Office (ONF) and thanks to the assistance of its technical and financial partners, in particular the Rhône-Mediterranean-Corsica Water Agency (AERMC), the Department of the Pyrénées-Orientales (CD66), the Departmental Federation of Fishing and Protection of Aquatic Environments of the Pyrénées-Orientales (FDPPMA66), the Environmental Geography Laboratory (GEODE) of the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), the Community of Communes Catalan Pyrenees and the Regional Natural Park (PNR) of the Catalan Pyrenees. The application was developed by Mobile Développement.
