About this app

The "Prayer of the Church" project is a volunteer development of a group of priests and laity of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.

The goal of this project is to make available to the faithful of the UGCC and others wishing to pray the Liturgy of the Church according to the tradition of the Byzantine rite.

The basis is the official liturgical calendar of the UGCC, which is annually prepared for the entire church by the Patriarchal Liturgical Commission of the UGCC.

The texts of the Divine Liturgy follow the texts of the prayer book "Come, Let Us Worship", which is the prayer book most used by the faithful of the UGCC.

The texts of the daily services are compiled according to the liturgical publications of Father Vasilyan, namely: Prayer Book 1990 and the daily Lenten and Palm Sunday triads additionally published to it. The developers deliberately followed the often erroneous order of texts in the daily circle services in the publications of Father Vasilyan, which may differ from the official statute of the Patriarchal Liturgical Commission, since their desire was to enable joint prayer of the faithful who will use paper publications and those who will use the electronic prayer book.

Additional texts, absent in the Prayer Book of Father Vasilyan, but provided for by the statute, such as the canons of Sundays and holidays, were supplemented from the Octoykh of M. Kobrin and the Kyivan Minya of 1927. The texts of the canons of the Lenten Triodion follow the translation of the Triodion by Father Zavitnevych, the texts of the canons of the Blossom Triodion from the publications of the UOC-KP.

This will continue until the UGCC has its own liturgical translations of these texts.

Since it is difficult to pray in honor of a holy day without knowing the history of it, the calendar includes short excerpts from the lives of the saints, as well as excerpts from the works of the Fathers of the Church collected by Father Julian Catri in his booklet "Pearls of the Eastern Fathers".

The compilers of the texts try to make the prayer of the church accessible to you consciously and responsibly. At the same time, they understand that only the Lord God is sinless, so they apologize for the variety of errors and inconsistencies in the calendar.

"But if anyone wants to argue, we have no such custom, nor do the Churches of God" (1Cor 11:16)
