The Casa Lectoras project is a set of experimental activities for the generation of an environment at home conducive to the consolidation of reading among all its members. It is aimed at families with children from 8 months to 6 years, by combining elements that are traditionally treated in a completely separate way:

Orality and written culture. In the first bars of the itinerary, parents are trained to enhance their ability to tell stories, mix narration with music and unfold rhymes for the little ones. This scheme is articulated with some first contacts with the illustrated album and the texts.
Analog and digital. This project uses in an articulated way the first contact with the printed book, through the picture books, with the applications on the iPad to stimulate the curiosity for reading.
Reading and writing. For the FGSR, a reader is a writer because reading is a creative operation that completes and gives life to a text. One of the objectives of this project is that from an early age, readers consider themselves capable of creating their own stories.
The Germán Sánchez Ruipérez Foundation has been developing the program since 2015 in collaboration with the Government Area of ​​Families, Equality and Social Welfare of the Madrid City Council.

This experimental project is carried out through periodic activities at Casa del Lector in which families with children from 8 months to 6 years participate, organized according to the age groups of the children. More than four hundred families with more than 600 children have participated in these activities. In addition to these activities at Casa del Lector, there is a decentralization of actions through the various talks in the Children's Centers of 21 districts of Madrid and in the 7 Family Counseling Centers, as well as online workshops for early childhood educators and librarians. Through the aforementioned actions, the experimental program has been reached with the four hundred families.

The program combines the loan of lots of books that the families, participants in the Casa del Lector didactic actions, take home, along with an iPad that aims to articulate the use of the picture books with that of the installed applications on tablets.
